Message from the VT Division of Emergency Management: We are aware of the situation in Wallingford and the fact that residents in some areas are unable to leave their homes due to fallen trees and debris.   We are passing along this news to Green Mountain Power, who is working diligently to restore power in many locations.

News from GMP: Green Mountain Power is continuing to make repairs in the wake of the continuing and severe snow storm. The storm is unprecedented in both the breadth and depth of the damage sustained and new outages continue to develop. We have hundreds of GMP and out-of-state lineworkers and tree trimmers working day and night to make repairs as quickly as possible. The damage is statewide and may take through the weekend before everyone is back on in the most severely damaged areas.  GMP encourages the public to stay safe and clear from downed power lines.

You can report any outages by texting ‘OUT’ to GMPVT or calling 1-888-835-4672.

“The Bend in the Road” by Yvonne Daley.  Yvonne is a resident of Rutland and San Francisco. One of the many hats she wears is as an associate professor of journalism at San Francisco State University but most of us remember her as a reporter for the Rutland Herald and director of the Green Mountain Writers Conference in Tinmouth.

Her latest book, “The Bend in the Road,” is the story of the Lenny Burke foundation – the farm, Emma’s place and, of course, Lenny and his amazing life’s journey.

The Wallingford Historical Society will host the book launch on Wednesday, December 17th, at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall Museum.
