NOTICE OF AMENDMENT OF REVISED ORDINANCES OF WALLINGFORD
TITLE 2: TOWN HIGHWAYS
On August 15, 2022, the Selectboard of the Town of Wallingford, Vermont, adopted amendments to the existing Revised Ordinances of Wallingford, Title 2: Town Highways. This notice is published pursuant to 24 V.S.A. § 1972 to inform the public of these amendments and of the citizens’ right to petition for a vote to disapprove these amendments.
FULL TEXT OF AMENDMENT
§2111(a). ONE WAY STREETS. The Selectboard is authorized to determine and designate one-way streets where particular hazards exist and shall erect a one-way sign at every such place where a one-way sign is required.
- The following streets shall be designated as “ONE WAY” and shall be so signed:
TH # 56 Florence Avenue shall be one way west bound from the intersection of U.S. Route 7 for its entire length then terminating at the intersection of Vermont Route 140W, AKA (Depot Street).

Title 24 V.S.A. §1973 grants citizens the right to petition for a vote at a special or annual Town Meeting to disapprove ordinance amendments adopted by the Selectboard. To exercise this right, citizens must present to the Selectboard or Town Clerk a petition for a vote on the question of disapproving the amendments signed by not less than five percent (5%) of the Town’s qualified voters. The petition must be presented within forty-four (44) days following the date of the adoption of the amendments. Unless a petition requesting a vote is filed pursuant to 24 V.S.A. § 1973, the amended Revised Ordinances of Wallingford, Title 2: Town Highways shall become effective sixty (60) days from the date of said adoption.
