Summer Recreation

Introducing Wallingford’s 2011 Summer Rec Program…….

The Town of Wallingford is offering a fun & safe summer recreation program. This four-week program is being offered to residents of Wallingford , Clarendon, Shrewsbury , Tinmouth and Danby. Children who have completed kindergarten through sixth grade are eligible to register. Hours of operation will be 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., Monday – Friday.

· Weekly fee is $60.00 per child for Wallingford residents. Out-of-town resident fee is $65.00. For multi-child rates, see fee schedule below.

· Registration is limited to 40 children per week. Registrations forms are due by May 25^th, along with a non-refundable $25.00 (per child) registration fee. This will reserve your child’s spot in the program. Weekly fees are paid each Monday, during the program.

The program will run during the following weeks:

June 27 July 5 (closed July 4) August 1 August 8

Children will gather at the Wallingford Elementary School between 7:30am and 8:45am. Together, with program counselors, they will walk down to the recreational fields at 8:45.

· Morning activities will take place at the recreational field. Activities will include opportunities for students to participate in group sports such as tennis, basketball, soccer, bocce, croquet and whiffle ball to name a few. Organized games such as capture the flag, kick ball, ultimate dodge ball, four square, knock out and freeze tag are all on the list. A variety of craft projects will also be offered. Special activities may include card games, cooking, fishing, tie dying and a field trip each week.

· Children will bring their own lunch, morning/afternoon snack and drink each day. We recommend children bring a water bottle to be refilled throughout the day. They will eat lunch at the recreation field. After eating lunch students will hike to Lake Elfin . (12:45pm)

· Afternoon activities will take place at Lake Elfin . Children will be supervised while they enjoy swimming and other beach activities. At 4:00pm students will walk back to Wallingford school. Children will be supervised for free play on the playground or play board games. Parents will pick children up at Wallingford Elementary School by 5:15pm.

· On rainy days children will remain at Wallingford School . Activities will be modified for indoors.

Wallingford resident fees:

1 child	$ 60 per week
2 children	$ 110 per week
3 or more children	$ 165 per week

Non resident fees:

1 child	$ 65 per week
2 children	$ 120 per week
3 or more children	$ 180 per week

· Scholarships are available upon request. Please call Camp Director Kim Maniery and ask for a scholarship form to fill out and return with your registration form.
