Approval of August 22, 2011 minutes.

Fall Festival scheduled for October 16 (12-2 p.m.).
Scavenger Hunt –
Shannon
has organized with items to find (not collect), with maps for trails located
near the beach parking lot, event site.

Reclamation of the slope, engineering will be next phase, total
reclamation next budget year, WCC will
have input
at that stage
Parking lot needs finishing, with gate being a better option than town
Moving stones to allow / restrict access

Boardwalk plan and schedule
Last work day on 9/18, brush was
cleared from path to where boardwalk will be at the bog, with some hazel hoeing
still needed
Ralph to make decisions on
construction details and materials needed. Discussion followed. Ralph will email
preliminary plans.
Materials should be delivered to
both sides of the bog.
Timetable for beginning work is
November.
Grant money might be used to
hire a local builder

Removal near
Lake
Elfin
WCC has a grant to clean out
trash near bog.
Letter from Prudential
Comm. ( 08/25) approves trash removal.
Possibly have Shaw’s
winch up debris, have metal removed by contractors who handle metal,
possibly use the concrete blocks for bases for benches.
Besides volunteer work by WCC,
possibly utilize prison labor at $20 per offender per day.
3.
Signage
We have a grant for additional
signage. Will need handicap
accessible signage, educational signage for the bog (half the size of the rain
garden signage), smaller identification signage for say pitcher plants or
explanation of glacial geography, informational signage like why the trench was
built
4.
Review of Work Days, with prioritization of chores
No community volunteers on work
days, despite publicity
Next work day is Sunday, October
2 at 10 to prepare for October Fall Festival
(Mark, Ralph-weed-whack, chainsaw downed trees) (Steve Pytlik-trailer to
move sur-pac to recreation area) (WCC-repair path washed out by Tropical Storm
Irene by putting back weed fabric and shoveling back sur-pac)
(Shannon –check out leftover signage and where to post)
(WCC – last ˝ hour to gather to organize timetable to accomplish work
for grant)

Budget 2011-2012
$600 +/- remaining in budget
Treasurer Mark will need to keep
track of receipts for both WCC and for grants separately.
