PROJECT LOCATION: The Wallingford slope project is located in the Town of Wallingford in Rutland County on VT Route 140 approximately 3.18 miles East of the US Route 7 intersection. This is a Tropical Storm Irene Recovery Project which caused heavy erosion and destabilization of VT Route 140 in this location. Work to be performed includes installation of wire mesh on the eroded embankment along the North side of VT Route 140 and installation of soil nails to secure this mesh onto the embankment to prevent future erosion. This project will also consist of full‐depth reconstruction of approximately 500 feet of roadway, and stream bank stabilization on the South side of VT Route 140.
ROAD CLOSURE: Route 140 is on schedule to be closed to through-traffic beginning Monday, July 16th. The road will be closed for 28 days. Traffic will be detoured along Routes 7 and 103 for the duration of the closure. A link to the project fact sheet follows. Further details about the project and the detour route can be found here.
