Wallingford
Energy Committee Minutes*
*These are
unofficial Minutes subject to the approval at the next regular meeting.
November 2, 2010
Present : Jay
(acting chair) Doug, Ralph, Ken. Guest
Alicia Sharp – Prudential Committee
Minutes approved.
Street Lighting – Alicia explained the rationale of
improving efficiency of
Wallingford
streetlights that could save big bucks and energy. About $1,700 is billed
monthly to Prudential Committee for lighting.
There are 104 street lights in
Wallingford
. LED streetlights are 25-75 % more efficient than conventional. CVPS
has yet to generate “tariff” for this purpose. Who should own the
streetlights? Prudential Committee
or CVPS?
Efficiency
Vermont
has a program to assist municipalities with tech. assistance with cooperating
towns to replace lighting. Discussion on the WEC’s role vs. the Prudential
Committee. The WEC committed in
principle to cooperating with the Prudential Committee in pursuing the
replacement of street lights with LED’s. We agreed initially to help them with
inventory of the town’s lights.
Town Energy Plan –
Wallingford
’s current plan is pretty scant. Thetford’s
plan is quite good. Jay feels we can
improve on Thetfords’ plan. Jay distributed talking points which were then
discussed. Jay suggests we re-write the sections of the energy plan divided up
by goals. Goals were listed and drafts assigned to be written by WEC members.
Jay will find other town’s energy
plans for examples.
New business – Ken will hit up the RRPC about the town
getting its $100 we earned for home energy assessments. Joyce also needs to bug
the RRPC about getting the funds provided by RRPC to get the Town Hall energy
audit done.
