Wallingford Fire District No. 1 MINUTES OF THE PRUDENTIAL
COMMITTEE MEETING
Called to Order: Chris Rabtoy called the meeting to order at Visitors: Warren
Allen and Mark Breznick Fire Hydrant
Replacement: The committee met this morning to discuss where the funds
would come from to pay for the installation of the replacement of Fire Hydrant
on Mr. Rabtoy explained why the hydrant needed to be replaced.
H said there are problems with turning the fire hydrant on and off and a
valve would need to be added. The
budget in the Fire Protection Fund was $3,500 for which $2,843.92 was spent to
purchase two hydrants, leaving $656.08 on the line item. Mr. Breznick came before the meeting to offer things to
consider when choosing the contractor to install the hydrant.
He outlined a very comprehensive outline between the two contractors.
A brief discussion ensued. Mr. Rabtoy made the motion to take $1,000 from
Miscellaneous Fire Protection Fund, $656.08 Fire Hydrant Replacement Fire
Protection Fund and the remainder out of the Water Fund Hire Labor and
Equipment. Mr. McPhee seconded the
motion. Ms. Regula said that if we
could go back and we could come up with extra monies, that Fire Protection could
repay the water fund, she would agree on it.
No further discussion. Motion
carried (3/0). Mr. Rabtoy said that if they decide to change their motion
on which contractor would handle the project, he would want someone from the
town garage saying they want that road done right because Bakers are notorious
for digging a whole and leaving it. Ms.
Regula agreed with that statement. Mr.
Rabtoy is assuming that Jim Ingalls bid would have Phil Baker doing the
excavation work. He also mentioned
that we would need to monitor the finishing touches of the project. Fire Truck Pumper: Mr. Rabtoy brought to the board’s attention that Chief
Allen notified him to say that the Fire Truck Pumper is out of service, the
brakes went out on it. Mr. Rabtoy
said that further discussion would take place at the next meeting. There is another leak on Fire Hydrant near
Railroad Tracks: Chief Allen mentioned that he found out that the hydrant at
the railroad track didn’t belong to the Fire District that it in fact belongs
to True Temper. There was a brief
discussion on how True Temper water and hydrants work on their property. Re-Vote for
Contractor on Replacing the Fire Hydrant: Ms. Regula said that she would like to change her vote on
the contractor replacing the fire hydrant, due to the information presented by
Mr. Breznick. She would prefer to
have Jim Ingalls, especially with a hydrant in the ground, somebody really needs
to know what their doing. Mr. Rabtoy
seconded the motion. He said
because it really makes sense and we need to monitor the finishing touches of
the project so that the road is repaired appropriately.
The committee will ask one of the workers from the Town Garage to come up
after the work has been completed to make sure that the road had been done
properly. No further discussion.
Motion carried (3/0). Adjournment: C. Rabtoy made the motion that the meeting be adjourned.
C. McPhee seconded the motion. No
further discussion. Motion carried
(3/0). Meeting was adjourned at Respectfully Submitted: Stephanie P. Biagini - Clerk/Treasurer
