Meeting called to order at
6:35 pm
by Sue.
Minutes: Keith made
a motion to approve the minutes of
June 19, 2007
.
Sue seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Mike and
Wendy Cange have given Sue a copy of the insurance policy for Wallingford
Daycare. Fair Haven Recreation,
Tapestry, and Danby all also have given copies of their insurance policies to
the Town.
Recreation
Field:
Discussed the addition to the building on the north side of the field.
Keith
received a quote for the fencing near the playground and the river.
The area between the playground/baseball field and the parking lot was
quoted at $2880. Chuck indicated
that our budget was cut this year and we do not have this in our budget to put
the fencing in this year. We will
need to put this in for next year.
Sue
shared a grant application for the 'Recreational and Educational Facilities
Grant Program'. The deadline is
October 1. This grant is a 3:1
dollar match and the match can not be of in kind services or donations of
materials. This grant will not be a
possibility for this year.
The
field was cleaned up nicely after Fun Day.
The
shrubbery around the tennis court needs to be cut back again.
Elfin
Lake
: Keith
asked if their was a policy for closing the lake in the evening.
Two nights, the gate next to the building has been left open, the lights
have been left on thin the bathroom , and toys were left all over the beach.
Sue
shared a health report on
Elfin
Lake
that indicates it is
suitable for swimming.
Keith
asked how we can get more recreation activities in town.
Keith would like to see some soccer games/jamborees be played in town.
The field will need to be lined and one of the goals will need to be
repaired. Lisa will bring this up to
Mill River United Soccer. Sue
suggested that anything that was a school function or a non profit organization
should not be charged. Keith also
asked if there were any objections to softball tournaments on the weekends.
There were none.
