Wallingford Fire District No. 1

 MINUTES OF THE PRUDENTIAL COMMITTEE MEETING
 January 24, 2007

Chris Rabtoy called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm .  Also present were John Shaw, Chris McPhee and Stephanie Biagini - Clerk/Treasurer.

VISITORS:    Jim Bowen           

The committee had requested Mr. Bowen to attend the meeting to discuss business at the lodge. 

They have asked that the 2007 contracts be handed into the Fire District Office, so that the office will have copies of the events as well.   Also, the caretaker’s contract was reviewed and updated.  It will be signed at the next meeting.   

MINUTES:  

The minutes of January 24, 2007 were read.  Chris Rabtoy made the motion to accept the minutes as read.  John Shaw seconded the motion.  Motion so carried. (YES 3, NO 0).  

The minutes of the Special Meeting January 22, 2007 were read.  Chris Rabtoy made the motion to accept the minutes as read.  Chris McPhee seconded the motion.  Motion so carried. (YES 3, NO 0).  

NEW BUSINESS:  

Lodge:   

See above under Visitor.  

Merge Bank Accounts to One Fund:  

The clerk reported consolidation of accounts will yield a higher percentage rate than currently received.  Instead of having eight (8) different accounts, we will have three (3).  (Water/Sewer, General/Fire/Lodge and Water Bond)  The clerk will also look into two (2) other accounts that possibly could be consolidated as well.  It was a recommendation from the Accountant for them to be consolidated.   Chris Rabtoy made the motion to consolidate the accounts.  Chris McPhee seconded the motion.  Motion so carried (YES 3, NO 0)  

Annual Report:  

The Accountant proposed a new summary for the Annual Report.  The summary encompasses a more streamlined look of each account. As for the delinquent list, it will reflect the citizen’s name and amount owed.  The Lodge report will reflect a 2 year comparison.  There will be reports featuring funds in detail available for the public. Chris Rabtoy made a motion to have the format from the Accountant be printed.  Chris McPhee seconded the motion.  Motion so carried (YES 3, NO 0)  

OLD BUSINESS:  

Deerfield Drive :

A leak had been identified on Deerfield Drive .   Mark Breznick and Eric Peterson visited the site where the leak is.  The committee made a motion to have it fixed.  Chris Rabtoy made the motion to have the same contractors (Kevin Ruane and Steve Saunders) that fixed Waldo Lane fix Deerfield Drive , Chris McPhee seconded the motion.  Motion so carried. (YES 3, NO 0).

OTHER BUSINESS:

Fire Hydrants:

The committee discussed purchasing two (2) fire hydrants.  Chris McPhee made a motion to purchase them.  Chris Rabtoy seconded the motion.  Motion so carried (YES 3, NO 0)

The Clerk will order two (2) fire hydrants and have them held until the springtime.  They need to be ordered now, due to a price increase after February 7th. 

Job Positions:

The position for Sidewalk Plow-Sander Operator was posted on January 22nd.  The committee discussed future positions that may be available.  There was discussion for lawn mowing and water/sewer operator.  John West will be asked to attend the next meeting.  Currently Mark Breznick is working everyday.

BILLS:

The bills were presented to the committee for review and were approved.

NEXT SCHEDULED MEETING:

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Prudential Committee will be held on February 14, 2007 @ 5:00 p.m. – Town Hall.

ADJOURNMENT:

Chris Rabtoy made the motion that the meeting be adjourned.  Chris McPhee seconded the motion.  Motion so carried. (YES 3, NO 0).  Meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
