Wallingford
Energy Committee Minutes*
*These are
unofficial Minutes subject to the approval at the next regular meeting.
May 4, 2010
Present - Jay White, Joyce Barbieri, Doug Blodgett,
Bert Jones, Ralph Nimtz, and Tim Chila
Minutes – approved, and high compliments and praise were
offered regarding the unusual accuracy and thoroughness of the minutes.
Municipal Energy Use – Ralph provided updated data of
municipal energy use (electric & fuel oil).
Some of info. was a bit confusing when comparing buildings. All buildings
seem to use quite a high amount of energy. Ralph will add data from
E. Wallingford
fire house. From WES – Tim has
site assessment report, but no thermal issues included – we need to add that
part. Tim will e-mail Jason Morse re: finishing the audit for WES.
We’ll use gals. (convert to BTU’s later) and Kw/hr. to be consistent.
Each member will be assigned one bldg. to confirm these records and convert to
standard. Data will then be sent to Bert who will put it on a spreadsheet. Tim
will ask selectboard on 5/17 about audit on town hall (which will be free.)
VCEM – We’ve done 17, three to go. We have till the 17th
May to finish. Way to Go Jay with ten houses done! A Platinum star this time!
Bert and Tim will do one, Ken and Doug will do one. Joyce will look into getting
additional supplies from Phillip. Bert to check also with Mr. Cook for his
assessment.
Student CFL sale – Tim talked with Jason Smith about this
– he suggested to Tim to talk with Odessey of the Mind folks about a potential
fundraiser for their trip. Tim e-mailed somebody (?) and Joyce heard back that
they didn’t want to do it. Tony won’t do the 99-cent bulbs anymore.
Town hall water heater – change from 40-gal electric
storage tank to on-demand electric. Doesn’t seem like a very good idea $$ wise
– Joyce will check with Bill Lohsen and ramrod this. This is still pending.
Announcement –
Rutland
regional energy committee wants town energy committees to participate with
them. Big gathering happened in April, but Tim was not able to attend. He will
try to go to the May meeting.
