Wallingford Selectboard Minutes
Selectboard Minutes Index Present:
Bill Brooks, Frank Bruce, Nelson Tift, Joshua Gilman, and Rose Regula Others Present:
Julie Sharon B. Brooks explained that the
purpose of this meeting was to discuss an offer made to the Town by Facility
Manager John Sucharzewski of Pike Industries to donate approximately 4,000 tons
of silt, which is the remaining product that comes from the sand wash process.
They will deliver it when they have time, free of charge, to Stone Meadow
on Waldo Lane. J. Gilman and F. Bruce inspected
the product as well as Charlie Woods. A
sieve analysis is expected to be forthcoming.
The material is believed to be sandy, silten clay and could be used to
cap the well-head crater at the sound end of the pit, to fill holes/craters on
the ground floor, or as the top layer of the slope stabilization. The Selectboard discussed where to stockpile the material so
that it is not in the way when remedial construction of the slope begins.
J. Gilman volunteered to show Charlie Woods where it should be located.
N. Tift suggested flagging the area.
J. Gilman stated that this addition will not disturb more than one acre
of land, therefore, a stormwater permit is not necessary.
However, B. Brooks volunteered to contact Bill Burke at DEC about this.
Overall the Selectboard felt that this was a great
opportunity for the Town. J. Gilman
recommended that a written agreement be executed.
On a motion made by J. Gilman, and seconded by N. Tift, the Town will
accept this free offer of approximately 3,500-4,000 tons of silt.
Motion carried (5-0). J. Gilman would like to receive a hiring recommendation from Charlie Woods for the part-time highway position at the next meeting. R. Regula praised the road crew for their quick response to the Allen culvert on Sugar Hill Road. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:36 p.m.
