Discussion of Rutland
County
Energy Challenge.
Previous Minutes passed.
Energy Inventory - -
reviewed where we were on this – more data still needs to be recorded. We’ll
need to decide which municipal building we should first focus on. WES needs to get
data to Tim. WES had an energy audit done a couple years ago. Tim should get
that from Jason. RRPC has money for one energy audit per town. Joyce needs
to get some data still on town garage and fire dept.
EQUEST energy model is available online that we could
perhaps use.
Energy Plan –
Tim has RRPC sample energy planning doc. Tim will use this to start a draft for
the town plan energy section. Ken would like to see an energy star rating for
homes be indexed to the town tax rate (i.e. town tax credit for energy star
rating). “Energy based tax structure”. Also
Ken would like to do a cursory review of potential alternative energy sites in
town.
VCEM- We have
homeowner forms now. We’ll try to
do two home assessments this weekend – Jay & KW&Tim volunteered.
We have 14 homes signed up now. Joyce should get the home energy visit
forms to the homes scheduled for audit.
Student CFL sale
– Jason Morse loves the idea. Tim to e-mail Jason re: WES audit and CFL sale.
Tony will supply bulbs.
New Business:
Town Hall Water Heater and basement zone heating – Joyce

Announcement – Next Tues, 3/9
@ 4:00 Rutland County Energy Challenge meeting – will put a face on all
of these energy savings efforts, raising awareness, some buzz. Looks like the
old refridge. exchange program by Efficiency VT is a bust for this area.
Rut. Regional energy committee meeting on 3/16
March Joint Energy
town meeting ?– Danby, Tinmouth and
Rutland
county town energy committees to pool. resources, rally the troops. VCEM launch
meeting.
