Wallingford
Recreation Development Committee Notes
March 22, 2010
In attendance were Debbie Scranton, Jill Burkett and Tim
Chila. Peter Upton arrived late. We have a commitment from the
Luzader’s and the Donahue’s to help out on work days when they can, but not
to come to the regular meetings. Jack Tally also indicated he wanted to be
on the committee when I saw him at town meeting.
Jill suggested we do a fitness trail. She will look
into a grant opportunity for this. Jill will also call Mill River Union
High School to find out about community service requirements for the students
and suggest our project as a possibility for that.
Debbie will look into whether the National Guard unit in
Rutland will help with engineering and excavation.
Tim asked if Josh had brought the question to the select
board regarding town funds for some of the work at the pit as indicated in his
edits to our master plan. Tim suggests that each of us invite folks to our
next meeting and try to recruit new members. Now that we have received our
first grant we have to implement our plan. We should be lining up the YCC
and other efforts now.
We have set a work date of Sat., April 3rd at
10am. We’ll meet at the Waldo Lane parking lot. The goal is to cut
up and haul away the tree that has fallen on the ball field side of the creek
and assess the situation in the pit. Our main goal there will be to
determine what exactly we need to do to the main trail leading from the foot
bridge to the beach before the beach opens.
We are looking for volunteers to co-chair this committee. |
