Household Hazardous Waste Collection Schedule

2008 Dates 

Saturday, April 26th - 8:00-10 a.m.
Saturday, June 28th - 8:00-10 a.m.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday:  6:30 AM - 2:30 PM and the first Saturday of each month between April and October: (excluding July) 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Visit their website at www.rcswd.com.

RULES

1. Keep materials in the original container, if possible.

2. We cannot take commercial or industrial wastes.

3. Pack materials carefully.

4. Don't mix materials.

5. Keep away from children and animals.

6. Don't smoke in the car.

7. We do not take: radioactives, pathological wastes, polychlorinated biphenyls, ammunition, explosives, compressed gases, controlled substances, or pentachlorophenol.

Unacceptable Materials

Pathological Wastes Car Batteries* Explosives (ammunition/fireworks)
PCBs (Ballasts) Latex Paint** Tires***

* Car batteries may be left at the Wallingford Transfer Station or taken to the Rutland County Solid Waste District Transfer Station during regular business hours.

** Latex paint is not a hazardous waste! Use it up or give it to a friend to use. It may be dried and landfilled as a solid waste. Open containers and let dry until solid or mix in cat litter to speed up the process.

*** Tires may be left at the Wallingford Transfer Station or taken to the Rutland County Solid Waste District Transfer Station during regular business hours. There is a small fee for tire disposal.

Businesses should contact the Rutland County Solid Waste District (770-1333) to arrange for proper disposal of business waste.
