annual lobster bake
Wallingford Rotary will be hosting its annual Lobster Bake at Elfin Lake on
Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. As usual, guests will be treated
to fresh lobster with all the fixings plus beverages and dessert. For those that
aren’t lobster happy, please don’t distress – the Rotary also offers
grilled steak dinners with all the same fixings for those who’d prefer beef.
The Lobster Bake is the Rotary’s main fundraiser and helps to support the
Rotary and its members in their mission of “service above self”. This
fundraiser helps to fund the Rotary’s annual Bike Safety Day here in
Wallingford, as well as its Dictionary Project where elementary school children
in Wallingford and surrounding communities are given dictionaries each year.
Additionally, the Rotary provides scholarships to several Mill River High School
students each year, helping to make college a little more affordable for local
come out and join us for an enjoyable fun evening, eating and socializing with
your neighbors and friends! Tickets are $25 per person for either lobster or
steak and can be purchased from any Wallingford Rotarian or you may call Tammy
Heffernan at 259-3711 for tickets. In addition to the dinner, the Rotary also
sponsors a 50/50 raffle that also features prizes donated by local area
merchants. Raffle tickets can be purchased regardless of attendance at the
Lobster Bake. Raffle tickets are $10 each or 3 tickets for $20. Again, your
local Rotarians will have raffle tickets to sell to you.

first congregational church of wallingford
First Congregational Church of Wallingford will host a dedication ceremony of
the historically restored steeple on September 14th at 11:00 on “the front
porch” of the church.
follows morning worship at 10:00 in the church sanctuary.
Nicholas Strom-Olsen will host the event. Special tribute will be
paid to Frederick Thurlow and Donald Shedd for planting the seeds for this
project, first begun in 2010 and completed this summer.

WALLINGFORD HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETING
July 29th meeting of the Historical Society will be an open house and tour
of the museum and its’ collection starting at 7:00 p.m.
27th Annual 50/50 Raffle is just around the corner. This year it will be
held on FRIDAY, AUGUST 8th. It will be at the same place, The Boys
Camp on the shore of beautiful
. The same delicious snacks will be available and as usual door
prizes will be awarded throughout the evening.
