Wallingford Recreation Committee
Minutes*
April
26, 2011
*These are unofficial until approved at the next
meeting
Attendance: Keith Shelvey,
Lisa Marchinkoski, and Diane Baker
Guests: Cheryl Maniery
Meeting called to order at 6:37 p.m.
The history of the summer recreation program was
shared with new member, Diane Baker.
Cheryl noted that Kim would like someone who has
craft skills to be working in the summer recreation program.
Kim had said a possibility would be splitting the job into two part-time
positions with one in the morning to work on the crafting piece and the
afternoon piece, who has lifeguarding certification. The third person would come
at 12:30 to the park to walk the children to the lake and then go to the park.
They would not work on the field trip day since they would not go to the
lake and Amanda(?) would work all day on that day.
There was discussion regarding the format of
positions for counselors and lifeguards. Diane
is concerned with limiting the lifeguards for liability issues.
Keith and Lisa agree. Keith
will present this to the Selectboard at the next meeting.
We would recommend rehire for the three returning lifeguards.
There were no issues with the concession worker
applications.
Keith discussed redoing the roof at the building
at the lake and moving the gate to the lake closer to the road.
Cheryl shared that the summer recreation program
received a Ronald McDonald House grant.
Meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
