- Election
of Chair and Co-Chair.
Carol Macleod
was elected Chair and
Debbie
Scranton was elected Co-chair.
- Old
Business:
- Fitness
Trail Grant. No report given.
-
Mill
River
Community Service. Jill
reported that Mill River
seniors must do a certain number of “community” hours.
This can be a resource to tap once we have come up with actual work
plans.
- National
Guard Help. Until we have a
specific plan for items that need physical work,
Debbie
will hold off calling
the
m.
- Town
Help. Like b and c above, Josh
suggested that
the
Committee should come up with specific work projects with clear, written
instructions. We can
then submit
the
work plan to
the
Selectmen and request
their assistance. Josh also
indicated that
the
Board of Selectmen will have signs installed at
the
Stone Meadow. Josh said that
one or more “no dumping” signs would be installed.
We had also hoped to have signs saying “no discharging of
firearms” and “no motorized vehicles”.
The committee also suggested that
the
Selectmen may wish to consider placing two “Pedestrian Crossing” signs
at
the
bridge-parking lot area.
- New
Members. New members Jill
Burkett and Jack Tally were introduced.
It’s great to have additional minds and bodies to help in this
endeavor, and we are all confident that Jack and Jill will make a great
addition to
the
committee.
- Master
Plan. See 2010 Work Plan
below.
- 2010
Work Plan. The Committee is
meeting on Sunday, May 2, 2010
at
the
Stone Meadow to lay out
the
continuation of
the
path from
the
new bridge to
the
basketball court. We will also
use this as a work preparation meeting and come up with specific jobs to be
accomplished with a clear, written plan for exactly how
the
work will be conducted and how we can use
the
resources of b, c, and d above. Our
specific planning goal for Sunday includes three areas:
1. additional grading of
the
parking lot using
the
removed gravel to help fill in
the
path from
the
Bridge to
the
basketball court; 2. looking at
the
piles of stumps/rocks/cement to see if we can extract materials not
appropriate for filling
the
well head excavation, etc. and either burn or remove
the
se materials - all, if not most, of which are stumps.
Determine how fill material can be moved to excavated areas on
the
south side. 3.
Look at
the
path from
the
bridge to
the
beach to determine what we physically need to do and who could help us.
We will also take a look at
the
esker. Keith had heard that kids
were playing in its caves and was concerned about safety.
Keith will also arrange to have
the
fallen tree removed from
the
ball fields so that it is out of our way when we layout
the
path from
the
bridge to
the
basketball field on Sunday.
An additional day of work has
been planned for
Saturday, May 8, 2010
at
the
Stone Meadow.
Tim Chila
will bring a piece of machinery which will help us remove
the
sod from
the
bridge/basketball court pathway.
- Watershed
Grant. The date for
the
construction of
the
water garden at
the
beach has been pushed back. At
the
latest, we will begin work late Summer/early Fall.
Meeting was adjourned at
7:00 pm. |
