Minutes*

Attendance: Keith
Shelvey, Tony Petrossi, Jim Osmer, and Lisa Marchinkoski
Meeting called to
order at
6:40.
Minutes:
Approval of minutes for last meeting:
Keith made a motion to approve the minutes of the April11 meeting.
Tony seconded the motion. Motion
passed unanimously.
The firemen asked
permission to use the recreation field for Fun Day.
Friday July 17 they will need to get in to set up.
Fun Day will be July 18, and clean up will take place on Sunday July 19.
They asked if we could donate a family pass for Elfin
Lake
for 2010 for a raffle.
The committee felt this could be done.
Reviewed letter
about recommendations for signage from VLTC and discussed recommendations that
have been made previously. We will
look at having signs made, including those to go by the entrance, by the
playground, and closer to the river area. We
will get a fire extinguisher for the building.
Summer Program:
The three people that were recommended for the position for the summer
recreation program were hired by the town.
Keith has called Castleton
College
and talked to people from White’s
Pool about any available lifeguards. We
are still looking for applications for these positions.
Elfin
Lake:
We need to fix the roof covering the opening to the girls’ room.
The parking lot has been enlarged. We
will need to pull out and replace the two signs that are now in the middle of
the parking lot.
Tennis and
basketball courts: The Selectboard
approved the fixing of the cracks on the courts, not to exceed $1,273.
We need to get a second bid.
We will purchase
a load of clay for the baseball fields not to exceed $500.
This was approved at the Selectboard meeting this past Monday.
Fencing:
The fencing at the recreation field has been installed.
We also want to put in fencing behind the basketball court on the river
side, as the balls often go down toward the river.
Memorial Day
Parade: Keith will make the
contacts.
We would like the
Selectboard to inform us progress on the hiring for the lake positions after
their next meeting.
Field Clean Up:
We will have a field clean up next Wednesday April 29 at 5:00.
We would like people who would be willing to help out to show up with
rakes.
Next meeting:
Tuesday May 12, 2009 at 6:30.
