Wallingford Recreation Committee
Minutes*

Attendance: Sue Duskiewicz, Charlie Wade, Tom Phillips, Lisa Marchinkoski

Guests:  Keith Shelvey, Rodney Ward

Meeting called to order at 6:30 pm by Sue  

Field Maintenance:  April 21 and 28 are scheduled for field clean up.  Baseball sign ups are this Saturday from 9 – 11 AM .   Chuck Watts was not at the meeting, so the committee did not have information on the cost of basketball hoops.  Tom will look into the price of bleachers.  Rodney has cleared through Julie Sharon that he can bring in the materials for the dugouts at the softball field.  The cracks have not been sealed at the tennis court.  A meter will have to be put down at the recreation field once the power has been run to the shed. 

Mowing of the fields was also discussed.  The town is responsible for the mowing.  They contract this service out.  It was discussed that the grass gets very high, especially around September.  The town has increased its mowing budget by $1,500 this year.  The recreation committee would like to find out the mowing schedule for this coming year.

Elfin Lake :

Sue has ordered a swim platform for the lake.  May 19 has been scheduled for a day to work on the lake.   We will need to discuss with the Selectboard any issues with bringing in any small equipment

We will need to find another refrigerator for the lake.  Dan Pelkey has an auger that can be used to drill the holes for the fence at the lake.  The lake is also always looking for life jackets and the like to be donated. 

New Members: 

Keith Shelvey is willing to step forward as a new member for the recreation committee.  Tom made a motion to present Keith’s name to the Selectboard to be appointed to the recreation committee.  Charlie seconded the motion.  Motion passed unanimously.  There is still one more position to fill.  We will ask Julie to post this position on the website.

Next meeting is scheduled for March 27 at 6:30 .
