Wallingford Fire District No. 1

 MINUTES OF THE PRUDENTIAL COMMITTEE MEETING
July 28, 2010

Called to Order:  Scott Sendra called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.  Also present was Alicia Sharp and Maureen Duchesne Clerk/Treasurer. Dennis Stocker came just a few minutes late.  

Visitors: John and Gwen West came to discuss personnel and this was done in executive session.  James and Rose Regula came to voice their feelings about the petition and to see what the board had to say.  Sandy Switzer a reporter for the Rutland Herald.  

Approval for Minutes:  Alicia made a motion to approve the minutes as presented and it was seconded by Scott.  With no discussion the motion carried (2/0).  

Approval for the Fire District Pay Order:  Alicia made a motion to approve the pay orders and Scott seconded the motion. Motion carried (3/0).  

Old Business:  Dennis stated that he had spoken with Jim Bowen and actually did a walk through at the lodge for things that are to be on his checklist after each rental.  Dennis will have this down on paper at the next meeting. 

New Business:  Maureen gave the board a petition that was left at her office about the merger.  The board read it over and found statements that were made that were not true and accurate.  They were very upset at how this was handled as they were willing to get together with the Selectboard and do up a plan but did not agree to a merger until this was done first.  

Public Comments:  None. 

Other Business/Announcements:  The board came out of executive session and asked Maureen to contact Attorney John Welch to have him take a look at the petition and give the board some legal advice.    

Executive Session:  Dennis made the motion and Alicia seconded that the board go into executive session. The board went into executive session at 7:45 to discuss some personnel issues; they came out at 7:55pm with no action taken.  

Next Meeting:  The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Prudential Committee will be August 11, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. at the Wallingford Fire Station on Railroad Street .    

Adjournment:  Alicia made the motion that the meeting be adjourned.  Dennis seconded the motion.  No further discussion.  Motion carried (3/0).  The meeting adjourned at 8:00 P.M.
