Wallingford Fire District No. 1

MINUTES OF THE PRUDENTIAL COMMITTEE MEETING
April 22, 2009

Called to Order: Scott Sendra called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.   Also present was Charlie Baker,  Maureen Duchesne/Clerk-Treasurer.  Dennis Stocker came late.

Visitors: Alicia Sharp, Jeff Duchesne, Donnie Boyd, John and Gwenn West, and Carl Buffum

John West gave a run down on the Blow Off  ordinance that we have in place that states a 9000 gallon per season is allowed. The season runs from December 15th – March 15th, and the correct valve measurement should be 1/16 of an inch.  This all came out of a February 11th 2009 meeting of the board. An updated letter will be going out with the next 3 billings so that people are aware of what the total allowance will be for next season.

Carl Buffum came to get an update on what was going on at the Boys Camp. We did let him know that we were waiting on the insurance company. Scott explained that we need to have a sprinkler system put in as a code upgrade and that is the big issue right now.  Carl did mention that they may have to cancel for this year and come back next year.

Approval for Minutes:  We had no minutes to approve as I sent the wrong ones to the board to look over. Will approve two at the next meeting.

Approval for the Fire District Pay Order: Charlie  made the motion to accept the pay orders. Seconded by Scott.  Motion passed (2/0).

Old Business:  The blow off was discussed and a letter will go out for the next 3 billings so that people are aware come next season as to what is allowed for the season.

The new water and sewer rate for the 2009 2nd Qtr was set at  Water: $4.45,  Sewer: $3.57, and the Fire District Tax .0348.

New Business:  We are going to try and power and water hooked up for temporary use at the boys camp. I will ask Dale to mark where the water line is. It was decided to call Kevin Ruane to dig up line and put in an outdoor faucet.  Jeff will take a look at the power for us.  Scott made the motion to have both things taken care of. Charlie seconded and with no further discussion motion carried.  (3/0)

I asked about doing a waive of fee for Mill River to use the Boys Camp for their end of year picnic. I will let them know that we may be right in the middle of construction and it would be dangerous to have kids around there.  It was decided that we would not be booking anything more until we get the construction finished.

Zollie Horvath asked if we could at least get the $4000.00 released from the insurance so that he could bring on a designer for the sprinkler system to get that started.  It was decided that we could not get this until the insurance settles with us.

Both the trucks that the Fire Department had up for sale have been sold and will be picked up shortly.

Public Comments: None

Other Business/Announcements: Dennis asked if the Prudential Committee would like to make some kind of donation to the Fun Day. It was decided to table until the next meeting.

Executive Session: None

Next Meeting:  The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Prudential Committee will be on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at 6:00 P.M. at the Wallingford Fire Station on Railroad Street.

Adjournment:  Scott S made the motion that the meeting be adjourned.  Charlie B seconded the motion.  No further discussion.  Motion carried (3/0).  The meeting adjourned at 7:32 P.M.

Respectfully Submitted:

Maureen Duchesne - Clerk/Treasurer                                       Date Approved:  5/13/09
